Interchange Action Calls Ending

Over the past year, ELFCU has asked members to voice concerns to lawmakers regarding legislation impacting interchange – the fees that merchants pay to debit and credit card issuers, such as your credit union. While we appreciate that many of our employees and members took the time to contact their representatives in Congress, our legislative efforts to protect revenue from interchange have ended for now.

ATM and Debit Card Issues Resolved

Michaels Stores Reports Credit and Debit Card Data Compromise

National arts and crafts retailer Michaels Stores, based in Irving, Texas, has reported a potential credit and debit card compromise. The company believes PIN pad tampering occurred at Chicago-area stores, which may have compromised consumer credit and debit card information, potentially including PINs. Fraudulent transactions were reported over the weekend of April 30-May 1, 2011, which initiated an investigation.

Fraud Alert: New Automated Calls Target Debit Cards

ELFCU members have recently reported fraudulent
automated phone calls regarding debit cards. During this call,
a pre-recorded message advises the recipient that his/her debit card has been blocked and prompts the recipient to “press 1 to cancel the block or press 2 to continue with blocking.” The call may continue with a request for debit card information.
This is not a legitimate call.
